FILE - NEW

Name the file or leave untitled
Choose images size - use inches
Make sure facing pages is selected

WINDOW WILL APPEAR

PAGE NUMBERING

Odds on the right
Evens on the left

MASTER PAGES

Information you put on a master page will be permanent on every page designated by that master page

IMAGE FORMAT

IMAGE FORMATS THAT ARE ACCEPTABLE

TIFF
EPS
PDF

JPEGS AND GIFS ARE FOR WEB NOT PRINT

IMAGE COLOR

You can bring in an image as CMYK
You can bring in an image as grayscale or B/W and place a flat color on it in the program
Always change images after scanning from RGB to CMYK; printers print in CMYK

CONNECTING TEXT BOXES

Flow copy into a text box
If text needs to continue into another box you will see a red box in the lower right hand corner
Click on that box
You will get a little paragraph icon
Click onto a new text box and the copy will flow
Repeat this process for as long as the document continues

EXERCISE
Open a new document and select facing pages. Pick your favorite copy from PBS printable stories and flow it from one text box to another. Play around with visual space and how two pages need to work together as a whole.
