The Fortune Cookie
Visual Hierarchy: dominant, subdominant, subordinate

In this project we will continue to learn to see typography in two ways:

  1. as visual elements in a two-dimensional composition
  2. as information which requires hierarchical organization

Design a poster using the fortune destiny has chosen for you, as well as one additional body of text and one image of your choice.  The text has to relate to the fortune.

Analyze the text/image and classify them into three levels of informational importance: dominant, subdominant, and subordinate.  These levels will remain constant throughout the project.  Once you decide on and informational hierarchy, it may NOT change.

Think about the meaning formed by the relationship of one part to another.  Consider how contrast, juxtaposition, exaggeration, isolation, etc. can contribute to creating a context for your message.  This makes your text and image choice very important to the success of your design.
