Draw three concentric circles

 

Use structural lines to define a space or shape.  Hatching, Cross-Hatching, Stippling.

 

Repeat a small pattern over
a third of your page

 

Draw two parallel lines across the page,  each  1/2” thick

 

Outline an organic shape, fill the interior with value

 

Using pencil, cover the page with a grid of very light lines

 

Draw a 1/4” thick border around the page

 

Find a texture that you can make a rubbing of on a defined part of your paper

 

Draw two dots. Cut a new strip of paper and connect the two dots by attaching the paper to your drawing.

 

Dilute your black paint with water and paint over your entire drawing.  This is called Wash.

 

Draw an “X” from corner to corner, fill one area with a value.

 

Integrate five black lines into your composition.

Add three squares to your composition.

 

Look for two areas enclosed with line, fill the area with light – dark using paint.

 

Make 5 squares 4” x 4, 8 x 8 or 12 x12. Fill them with circles.

 

Have someone draw an irregular shape on the page.

 

Cut  a shape from your drawing.  This can be a geometric shape, and organic shape or a referential shape.

 

Incorporate a letter into the drawing.

 

Draw a line that makes you think of a bird flying

 

Trace something from your pocket using a black pen or marker.

 

Erase a triangular shape from the page.

 

Cut your drawing into 25 pieces, then glue it back together.

 

Using a marker, make seven small “O’s” on your page
